Think of any person who you admire and I am willing to bet that they show gratitude everyday.
Living in Canada, and having friends in the USA, has given me the opportunity to celebrate Thanksgiving twice a year. (Thanksgiving is celebrated in Canada on the first Monday in October). Thanksgiving twice a year, lucky me!
Which begs the question: "why can't we celebrate Thanksgiving everyday"? No, I'm not talking about having a big turkey dinner, and watching football everyday (we can only dream), but rather giving sincere thanks , everyday for everything that we are truly grateful for. When the movie "The Secret" came out a few years ago and mentioned the power of gratitude, for many it was a new idea. Think of any person who you admire and I am willing to bet that they show gratitude everyday. So instead of reading the news, watching television, complaining about the economy, how about we try giving thanks to everything we enjoy in our lives? For me, I am grateful for my health, friends, family, living in a great neighborhood, among many other things. When I find myself "shifting" my attention elsewhere it gets me away from the spirit of gratitude that always brings me joy and happiness. So enjoy Thanksgiving today, and tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day....you get the idea. Happy Thanksgiving!
